Yesterday I went and saw the action film Red at Cineworld, and it had a star studded cast so to speak, Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Brian Cox, Morgan Freeman who are in some way no strangers to action flicks, however then Helen Mirren steps in with her sniper file and heavy duty machine guns and starts blazing away.
Actually the film was fairly enjoyable and the cast were indeed very good, but I felt also they didn't quite manage to elevate the film above the usual action fare we get these days. Also the plot was somewhat difficult to follow and I don't quite know why they ended up trying to get the Vice President (OK as River Song would say Spoilers!). But Bruce Willis was his usual self and well at home in the action genre, and John Malkovich provided some pretty funny moments too, best of all was probably Mary Louise Parker, who is a terrific actress, and she was really engaging to watch in the film. And it makes for enjoyable enough for a action fuelled gunarma feast.
